Supporting communities: Somerset and West of England
We are proud to support a wide range of projects and events throughout the region, as well as helping residents to thrive. Bringing communities together is important to us.
If you have an idea for a community event or project, or would like to find out more about what is going on in your area, our community connectors can help.

This summer, residents and colleagues across Somerset and the West of England have been getting stuck in, tidying gardens, tackling weeds, or learning more about wildlife.
Plumley Court garden tidy
In June, residents at Plumley Court teamed up with our Estate Services team for a Community Garden Tidy Event. On one of the hottest days of the year, staff and residents worked side by side to cut back trees, trim hedges, weed flower borders, and clean benches.
The garden looked fantastic afterwards, and residents were proud of their hard work. Some even asked when the next tidy-up will be! One resident received a £50 voucher to help brighten up the planters at the car park entrance, showing how a little support can make a big difference.
Meadow Rise wildlife activities
Over the summer in Shepton Mallet, families enjoyed a variety of fun, hands-on sessions from building bird boxes and hedgehog houses to taking part in the Big Butterfly Count.
Children learnt about wildlife right on their doorstep and discovered how animals like beavers help prevent flooding. The sessions strengthened community ties and opened new opportunities to work with local groups to protect the environment.
Trinity Walk weeding day
In July, LiveWest joined forces with Frome Town Council and the Trinity Community Group for an Extreme Weeding Event at Trinity Walk. Volunteers cleared weeds from pavements and footpaths to transform the area.
Local residents thanked the team for their efforts, saying the neighbourhood looked “so much better.” The success of the event has encouraged further plans with the Town Council to tackle litter and fly-tipping in the area later this year.
