2025 community wrap-up: Somerset and West of England
It’s been a busy 2025, with several projects across the area improving shared spaces, supporting sustainability and bringing residents together. Here’s a round-up of some of the key activities.
Supporting young people with our Christmas gift appeal
This year, we worked closely with local organisations, community groups, and housing associations to raise funds and collect gifts. Thanks to this incredible support, our Christmas appeal reached over 70 young people, ensuring they had presents to open on Christmas Day.

Ecos Court
Residents teamed up with the Frome Seed Library to run gardening sessions and a weekly homework club. Attendance at both activities continues to grow, creating a vibrant and supportive community space.
Improving sustainability
Working with the Somerset Wildlife Trust, residents at Meadow Rise, Shepton enjoyed garden and wildlife events, including installing hedgehog boxes and creating habitats to encourage biodiversity across the community.
Low impact exercise sessions for older customers
Funded through our social value programme, we have provided low impact exercise sessions at our Elizabeth Court, Martock community to promote health and wellbeing while helping residents stay active and connected.
These sessions have been well attended and have even helped encourage these residents to seek further health & wellbeing sessions in the wider community.
Neighbours come together to promote safer streets
In Sparkford, LiveWest residents have teamed up with our Community Connector, Shona Stone, to help reduce cars speeding in their neighbourhood – especially to protect the young people who regularly play outside on the green space.
Parents encouraged the local residents to get creative and design eye-catching ‘slow down’ signs that are now displayed across the community.

Community gardens across our communities
From a simple patch of land to an award-winning green space, the Wyndham Park garden in Yeovil has become the heart of the community. Residents say it’s a great place to relax, make friends, and boost mental health.
We’ve also supported gardens in Sparkford, where LiveWest volunteers helped clear ground for expansion.
Funding for local initiatives
We provided support for a range of community projects, some include:
- Litter picking equipment for groups across Somerset.
- Food bank grants to help local families.
- Funding for Wyndham Park’s Christmas Event.
- Sports equipment for community projects.
Major community projects brings together young people from across Somerset
Our free activity sessions for young people have been a great success, with hundreds taking part across our communities. Building on this momentum, we’ve expanded the number of projects by growing the Minehead Eye initiative, following its strong results in 2024.
This success has also inspired new partnerships, including working alongside Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership, to deliver even more engaging sessions for young people. Our sessions this year brought together over 150 young people across the county.
Events and meeting with our customers
We hosted and supported a range of activities to bring communities together.
In Bridgwater, families enjoyed a lively Play Day, while Wacky Wednesday in Wellington and Priorswood’s Community Fun Days offered creative fun
We also joined multi-agency breakfasts and neighbourhood meetings in Wellington, Taunton, Highbridge, Bridgwater and Cheddar—creating opportunities to talk to our residents, build partnerships, and improve our support.
