Staying safe and supported during rising living costs
Many households are continuing to feel the pressure of rising living costs. Higher energy bills, food prices and everyday expenses can make it difficult to manage money, especially for people living in affordable housing.
Understanding what support is available and knowing where to get help can make a real difference.
Help and support available
LiveWest may be able to provide support through budgeting advice, payment plans and benefits checks to help customers maximise their income. Our Tenancy Sustainment team is also available to provide advice to customers to help with managing money, claiming benefits, how to pay energy bills or looking after their home.
Additional support may also be available through the Priority Services Register for customers who are older, disabled or living with health conditions.
You can also seek free advice from organisations such as Citizens Advice or your local council, which may offer hardship support or emergency assistance.

Be aware of loan sharks
When money is tight, it can be tempting to borrow quickly. But illegal money lenders, known as loan sharks, can cause serious problems.
Loan sharks are not regulated and often target people who are struggling financially.
They may seem friendly at first, but things can quickly become stressful or frightening.
Warning signs of a loan shark:
- They increase what you owe without explaining why.
- They pressure you for repayments.
- They take bank cards or personal belongings.
- They threaten or intimidate you.
Loan sharks are often people from the local community, not strangers.
Where to get safe help
If you are worried about borrowing money or think you may have borrowed from a loan shark, support is available and completely confidential.

You can contact them 24 hours a day on 0300 555 2222 or by WhatsApp on 07700 102773.
