What is tenancy fraud?
Tenancy Fraud is when our homes are not being used properly under the tenancy agreement.
Examples of Tenancy Fraud include:
- Subletting - Someone renting out their home without permission.
- Abandonment - A tenant not living in the property as their main home.
- False housing application - Someone obtaining a tenancy using false information.
- False Right to Buy or Right to Acquire application – when false information is provided in this process.
- False succession request - A tenancy being passed on to someone who isn’t entitled to it.
- Key selling – Residents being paid for copies of keys.
