Alzheimer’s Society is the leading dementia charity in the UK and provides local and national services for families effected by all types of dementia.
There are currently around one million people in the UK with dementia, including over 101,500 people in the South West of England.
Our colleague donations, which will be match funded by LiveWest, will help support services like Alzheimer’s Society’s Singing for the Brain Groups in Exeter and Dawlish, Memory Cafe’s in Bovey Tracey and Kingsbridge, and Dementia Advisers who provide personalised support to people from day one of their diagnosis.
Our colleagues are already busy organising fundraising activities for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Currently, we are organising a Cornwall bike ride for our colleagues. We have three routes available covering 26, 37 and 56-mile routes with climbs up to 3868ft.
Colleagues will also come together to fundraise at other charity events throughout the year.
Stewart Tudor-Jackman, our Head of Organisational Learning and Talent Management, continues to get involved and help arrange the charity activities, he said: “This year our colleagues voted overwhelmingly to support Alzheimer's Society, a cause which touches the families of many of our colleagues.
“From April we look forward to working with our colleagues to create a schedule of fundraising activities that will enable us to contribute to the society’s amazing work.

“We already have a few events in planning, including our first charity bike ride in Cornwall.”
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime (Alzheimer's Society).
Speaking about the partnership, Alzheimer's Society Regional Fundraiser, Claire Frost said: “It’s wonderful that LiveWest have chosen Alzheimer’s Society as their Charity of the Year for 2025/26. Through generously giving their time to fundraise for us, they’re making a life-changing difference to people living with dementia.
“Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support to people living with dementia, funds groundbreaking research and campaigns to make dementia the priority it should be. Together, we will end the devastation caused by dementia.
“There are over 101,500 people living with dementia in the Southwest of England. Thanks to our fantastic supporters like LiveWest, we can be there for more people affected by dementia with help and hope.”
We look forward to sharing more updates on our Charity of the Year 2025/26 in the future.
