Sylvia Frampton’s bungalow in Yealmpton in Devon was included in our Cby28 retrofit project to improve her home.

It's aimed at making as many of our homes more energy efficient and environmentally-friendly therefore, in the long-term, reducing heating costs.

Our resident, Sylvia, said: “I'm absolutely thrilled. The workmen have been very kind and very helpful. Even one person carried my shopping in because it was heavy, which was fantastic.

“But the work is absolutely superb. I'm thrilled to bits with it and hopefully, my electric bill will go right down because of it and I'm very grateful.”

The retrofit project was for around 80 homes in the village of Yealmpton, Devon to improve the efficiency of homes to an EPC rating of C or above, each home is assessed before being selected to have any retrofit works completed.

The funding comes from Wave Two of the Government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and is used to make homes more energy efficient.

Works carried out at Sylvia’s home in partnership with Plymouth City Council’s Consortium included roof repairs, night storage heaters, loft insulation, ventilation and PV solar panels.

Sylvia said: “The storage heaters are very smart, very modern, and easy to control, which is good. So you can turn the temperature down if you wish, which is very helpful to me. And I'm hoping that it'll all work out fine.

“I'm thrilled with the solar panels, my son has them and he said, ‘You know, you ought to get them’. I said, ‘Well, I wish I could one day’. This was a couple of years ago and now it's happening, I'm really chuffed with it.

“I'm on a smart metre and it's a pay as you go so I'm hoping to have to put less on my smart metre. So that'll make a big difference to me.

“I'm just thrilled and very grateful that it's been done and you're helping an 83-year-old great-granny out because I'm chuffed with it, it really is amazing.”
