South Brent set for affordable homes boost

We have built on our successful partnership with Vistry Partnerships to secure planning for an affordable housing development in South Brent
South Brent

Plans to build 40 affordable homes in South Brent have been given the go-ahead.

The South West’s largest housing provider, LiveWest, have strengthened their partnership with leading partnerships business, Vistry Partnerships, to tackle the region’s housing shortage with this high-quality development which through working together will now all be delivered as affordable housing.

The development, adjacent to the existing housing at Fairfield, is set within the Palstone area on the East side of South Brent, benefitting from a location on the South West fringes of Dartmoor National Park with good access to local amenities and the A38.

It is intended that the development will deliver 25 homes for affordable rent and 15 for shared ownership and will provide a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom accommodation.

Anthony Eke, New Business Manager for LiveWest, said: “We have worked hard with Vistry to bring forward this exciting development which importantly will make a big difference to accessing to new affordable homes in South Brent.

“We are particularly pleased as the site is located in Dartmoor National Park, where opportunities to provide affordable housing are limited.

“The development will not only deliver new affordable homes for local people within a vibrant village but is also really well located for employment and all the health and wellbeing benefits of the National Park.

“The need for such accommodation will prove even more pertinent during the difficult economic time we face as part of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The development is benefitting from grant-funding from government housing agency Homes England.

Work is expected to start later this year and the homes will be completed by summer 2022.

Bradley Davison, Managing Director Vistry Partnerships South West, commented “We are delighted to have received the go ahead for the new homes in South Brent.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us to deliver beautiful homes in an area of outstanding beauty within the South West, providing opportunities for local people in an area with low affordable housing provision.

“As a partnerships-focused business we look to build and establish long-term relationships that deliver true value for our clients.

“South Brent is a fantastic example of our land led development offering, sourcing land and developing viable schemes that will help our clients in meeting the affordable housing needs of the South West, tackling the housing shortage and transforming lives and landscapes by delivering quality homes.”

The development is the latest partnership project between LiveWest and Vistry Partnerships.

The two organisations have joined forces to deliver over 2,400 new homes across the South West for shared ownership, affordable rent and for sale as part of a strategic partnership.

The partnership will see 1,238 new homes built in Exeter, 398 in Tavistock and 831 in Taunton.

The homes will be built over the next 15 years and the investment will create local jobs, apprenticeships and other opportunities across the South West.
