We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for two awards at the UK Housing Awards.

After a receiving a record number of entries, the awards judges stated that this year’s shortlisting was the toughest in the ceremony’s history.

It was a huge achievement that our submissions for Homelessness Partnership of the Year and Direct Labour Operative (DLO) of the Year were both shortlisted.

Our Deputy Chief Executive, Melvyn Garrett, said: ““The UK Housing Awards are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious in the sector.

“To be shortlisted for two awards is excellent recognition for our customer facing colleagues and the teams that support them.

“It demonstrates the fantastic work being done to ensure we offer great services to our customers.”

The Homelessness Partnership of the Year submission centred around the Housing First project in Bristol, which was a partnership between us, Bristol City Council, Golden Key and Second Step.

The partnership ensures that some of the city’s most vulnerable citizens, who have been refused or refuse housing, are able to find a home.

Our Director of Neighbourhoods, James Reseigh, said: “This is fantastic recognition for the frontline neighbourhood team who continue to have a brilliant working relationship with our partner agencies in tackling homelessness across the South West.”

Aileen Edwards, Chief Executive of Second Step, said: “It’s great to see Live West and Bristol City Council working really closely and productively with our Housing First team.

“They are actively changing the way they do things in response to what they learn with us. It’s really is partnership-working at its best.”

Having been shortlisted in the DLO of the Year category for the second successive year, we talked about the fantastic work carried out by our day-to-day repairs’ operatives.

Paul Brown, Head of Component Installations and Voids (IMS), said: “To be shortlisted as DLO of the year in the UK Housing Awards for a second consecutive year demonstrates the great work and journey we are all on at LiveWest.

“Whilst the award recognises the DLO, this would not possible without the collaboration of many departments contributing to the great works we deliver across many areas, from our compliance teams keeping our customers safe, through to the daily and planned maintenance tasks required.

“It is a great effort from everyone across the business to be recognised.”
