Why is saving water so important?

Saving water is important because we all need it to live, and there’s only so much clean water on Earth. As more people use water and the weather changes, it’s getting harder to find enough in some places. By using less water, we help make sure there’s enough for everyone in the future.

It also helps protect nature and saves energy, which is good for the planet. Even small actions, like turning off the tap when brushing your teeth, can make a big difference.

What can I use to help save water?

Using water efficient gadgets can significantly reduce your water consumption meaning lower bills and a greener household. Plus, fixing leaks early avoids potentially major damage and higher costs down the line.

Free water-saving devices from your water supplier

Did you know your water provider might offer various free devices to help you save water… and money? These gadgets are designed to boost efficiency across your home.

What you could claim:

  • Shower regulators – Improve water pressure while cutting usage.
  • Shower timers – Encourage shorter showers to limit waste.
  • Bufaloo strips – Detect hidden leaks by changing colour when submerged.
  • LeakyLoo detectors – Similar to Bufaloo strips, these reveal leaks under toilets.
  • Cistern displacement devices – Reduce the water used per flush.
  • Hair catchers – Fit in your shower drain to prevent blockages and save water.

Get Water Fit
