Sally bowled over by new home

Sally Dickinson could barely contain her joy when she discovered she had secured one of the new rental properties in Nansledan.

The mother of two children – Harry, 12 and Chloe, 9 – had been living with her mother in Porth for the past nine years and hoped to eventually rent a home for her and her children in the future.

Her dream was realised after LiveWest contacted her to say a home had been allocated for her family.

“I was over the moon when I found out,” said Sally, 36. “It was on the LiveWest website and I had to apply for it.

“But it wasn’t long before I was contacted to say that my family could move in. It had been a long journey, but this was the piece of news we had been waiting for.

“We moved in just before Christmas and it meant we had our own home to celebrate the festivities. Everything just slotted into place.”

Nansledan is a new development two miles away from Newquay and boasting stunning views across the Cornish countryside.

For more than 20 years it was earmarked by local authorities as a way to meet the future business, housing, educational and health needs of Newquay and building finally started in 2014.

Sally added: “We love it here. The views are amazing and the children are so happy having their own rooms and their independence.

“It is lovely to live in a rural community where you can see the fields through the windows. I feel lucky to live in such a thriving community.

“LiveWest has been amazing from start to finish and they still are.

“They made sure everything has been finished off and sorted any problems immediately. They have been brilliant.

“I think it is really important LiveWest supports people to live locally and if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be living so close to my family.”

The theme for Rural Housing Week is Building for Rural Communities and Sally has welcomed the initiative as crucial in raising awareness of the importance of rural housing.

Sally said: “Rural Housing Week celebrates all these great developments and highlights why it is so important to keep building to preserve and enhance rural communities.

“It is so important that LiveWest continues to build homes in rural communities because people don’t tend to get out and meet each other anymore and these new developments have a real community spirit.”
