Our customers share their top tips for reducing food waste

We have launched our Slow Cook, Low Waste recipe booklet, sharing tips and recipes to fight food waste.
illustrated tips to reduce food waste

Our Slow Cook, Low Waste competition, which ran throughout October, saw our customers send in their top tips for reducing food waste.

We received so many great tips to help with food shopping, storage, and cooking; plus lots of creative ideas to use up leftovers.

Tips submitted ranged from batch cooking and freezing extra portions, to making your own stock and reusing coffee grounds in your garden.

Customers who submitted a winning tip received a free slow cooker and their tips have been featured in our new Slow Cook, Low Waste recipe booklet

The booklet contains a selection of recipes designed to use up commonly wasted foods, such as bread and potatoes, along with information about food waste, and tips to help you reduce the amount of food you throw away.

The booklet is available to view on our Cooking Green Advice page, or by clicking here

One of our customers, Heather Pearson, who sent in a winning tip, said: “I hate food waste, and everything is going up, so we need to make the most of what we have as much as possible."

Another winning customer, John Tootell, said: “I will be cooking in bulk and then freezing the leftovers, so I only need to cook once or twice a week and also save on energy and then just reheat it in the microwave.”

You can read a selection of our customers’ tips in our Slow Cook, Low Waste recipe booklet now.
