We welcomed our partners to celebrate the completion of a new development in Troon which has provided 30 homes for social rent.
The project was supported by Cornwall Council and Homes England and provides much-needed affordable homes for local people in the town.
Gareth Jones, Development Director for LiveWest, said: “We are extremely proud of this development which has produced the lovely homes we see today.
“I have had a chance to speak to the residents who have talked about how happy they are to live in a good quality, warm and secure home.
“The completion of the development is a proud milestone for LiveWest and a testament to our commitment to delivering homes for local people.
“By putting customer needs at the heart of our work, we’re not just building homes, we’re building better futures for our residents and the communities they live in.”
All of our homes have been built with sustainability in mind, with PV panels and air source heat pumps improving the homes’ energy efficiency.
The homes on the development have all achieved the top rating of ‘A’ in terms of their Energy Performance Certificate, which will help customers save on their energy bill, and all come with electric vehicle charging points.
MP for Camborne and Redruth, Perran Moon, attended an event to mark the completion of the 100% affordable scheme.
Perran said: “This is really exciting, it is exactly the sort of development we need in Cornwall.
“The homes look wonderful, they are environmentally friendly, fuel efficient and exactly what we need to be building in Cornwall.
“LiveWest are key to finding solutions to the housing challenge here in Cornwall. They are building the types of homes we need here.
“I want to see schemes like this – with really well built, good quality, affordable homes – right across Cornwall.”
Cllr Peter LaBroy, Cornwall Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “We’re supporting social housing providers to build more affordable homes in the areas where they are most needed.
“This development in Troon is a great example of how our partnership working is making a difference for our residents.”
The homes were built by local contractor, Gilbert and Goode and two of the homes were adapted for wheelchair users.
Sue Warwick, Managing Director of Gilbert & Goode, said: “Cornwall faces a real housing challenge, and we’re proud to play our part by building high-quality homes that provide local people with the security they deserve.
“Our focus is on creating places where people and communities can truly thrive, and we’re always looking for opportunities to make more of this possible. We’re delighted to have completed these homes in Troon in partnership with LiveWest, and even more so to see families moving in just in time for Christmas.”
The development has benefited from a grant of more than £3m from Homes England, the Government’s housing and regeneration agency.
Shahi Islam, Director of Affordable Housing Grants at Homes England, said: “As the Government’s housing and regeneration agency, increasing the supply of quality affordable homes remains one of our key objectives and we are committed to supporting LiveWest to achieve their ambitions.
“This fully affordable housing development is a prime example of how we work collaboratively with partners, through the Affordable Homes Programme, to achieve our mission to build thriving, new communities that people can be proud to call home.”
