Mayor of Tavistock celebrates new housing development in Tavistock

Our partnership with Vistry Partnerships will see more than 2,000 homes built for affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale across the South West
Tavistock

We teamed up with Vistry Partnerships and Councillor Mrs Anne Johnson, Mayor of Tavistock, to celebrate a new housing development at The Tors in Tavistock.

Our partnership with leading partnership specialist, Vistry Partnerships, is providing 399 new homes, including homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale.

The partnership welcomed Councillor Johnson to join them in celebration as they officially opened the doors to two new show homes and a new sales and marketing suite for homebuyers to visit and discover the homes available.

Councillor Mrs Anne Johnson, Mayor of Tavistock commented: “I am pleased to join the team in celebration of their new sales presence and show homes.

“Having suggested the street names with my son early in the development process, it is good to see the new homes coming to life. I look forward to seeing the homes progress and the community build, offering opportunities for the people of Tavistock.”

With Dartmoor on the doorstep, the show homes and their surroundings are inspired by the rural location, designed to replicate the beauty of the moors.

Our Executive Director of Development, Russell Baldwinson, said: “We are delighted to be involved with this exciting new housing development in Tavistock.

“Delivering new affordable homes in West Devon and, in particularly Tavistock, is of significant importance to LiveWest having successfully merged with affordable housing provider West Devon Homes in 2015.

“Our involvement in this project has enabled the level of affordable housing being delivered to be increased from 17% to 30%, which has been achieved through significant financial investment by ourselves supported by grant subsidy from Homes England.

“What is particularly pleasing about this approach is it will enable more families, who could not ordinarily afford to buy a new home at this development, to access new housing for rent and discounted sale.”

Chief Executive of Vistry Partnerships, Stephen Teagle commented: “As someone who lives in the area, it gives me an immense sense of pride to reach this stage of development at The Tors.

“Working with Livewest, we’re creating a fantastic new community with a range of mixed tenure homes. This means there are genuine opportunities for all to live here, and that’s exactly what new communities should offer.”
