Make every drop count this Summer

Save water – simple daily habits to help protect our environment.
Water drop from tap

June is the perfect time to think about how we use water – especially as the warmer weather arrives. Campaigns like Water Week remind us that water is one of our most precious resources, and it’s something we all rely on every day.

Water supports our homes, our communities and the natural world around us. But it’s also under pressure. Climate change, growing demand and changing weather patterns are putting a strain on supplies, even here in the UK. That’s why small, simple actions can make a big difference.

At LiveWest, we believe that everyone can play a part in protecting this vital resource. You don’t need to make big changes to have an impact – it’s the everyday habits that count.

Simple ways to save water at home

Making a few small swaps can help reduce water use and save money on your bills too:

  • Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth – running taps can waste litres every minute.
  • Keep showers short – even trimming a few minutes can save a significant amount of water.
  • Only use your washing machine or dishwasher when it’s full.
  • Fix leaks quickly – even a small drip can waste large amounts of water over time.
  • Reuse water where you can, for example watering plants with leftover cooking water.

These quick changes are easy to build into your daily routine, and together they can have a big impact.

Why it matters

Saving water isn’t just about what we use at home. Every drop we save helps protect rivers, wildlife and green spaces. It also reduces the energy needed to treat and pump water, which supports the fight against climate change.

Even though the UK is known for its rain, water is not unlimited. Looking after it now helps make sure there’s enough for everyone in the future – from our communities to the natural environment.
