Investment will make our homes warmer to live in

Sustainable homes, neighbourhoods and communities are at the heart of our commitment to deliver a home for everyone.
LiveWest retrofit homes to make them warmer

Thousands of our customers will be getting upgrades to their homes to make them warmer and cheaper to run, thanks to an £8m investment.

LiveWest has been awarded £8m from the Government’s Warm Homes scheme and is adding a further £8m to improve the energy efficiency of around 700 of our homes.

The latest funding boost will makes our homes warmer, more comfortable, and more affordable to heat, providing much-needed support during a time of rising energy costs.

Tailored energy efficiency upgrades will include improved insulation, double glazing, solar panels, and cleaner heating systems. These measures will not only reduce energy bills but also contribute to the UK’s transition to net zero by lowering carbon emissions.

Glynnis Poole, Director of Investment and Sustainability, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded this funding which is a crucial step in tackling fuel poverty and improving the energy efficiency of homes across the UK.

“At LiveWest, we understand that rising energy costs remain a major concern for many of our customers and we are committed to making a real difference by providing warmer, more sustainable homes.

“The homes we retrofitted under Waves 1 and 2 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund have made such a difference to the efficiency of our homes and have helped customers make significant savings on their energy bills.

“Investing in energy efficiency not only lowers bills but also reduces our carbon footprint. This is a major milestone in our journey towards net zero and a huge win for our customers.

“The scale and ambition of this funding will instil much-needed supply chain confidence and strengthen the green economy while stabilising energy process and reducing household energy costs.”

Our funding has been awarded through Wave 3 of the Government’s Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund as part of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s Strategic Partnership route, which is designed to support large-scale retrofit projects by providers with a proven track record in delivering improvements at scale, and is part of a wider £66m allocation for the South West being managed by the West of England Combined Authority.

This investment is part of the £1.29bn allocated through Wave 3 of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund, supporting 144 projects across the country.

With funding from previous waves of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), we have now secured a total of £18m to improve over 1,800 homes.

Glynnis added: “All our homes need to have an energy efficiency rating of at least EPC C by 2030 but our ambitious retrofit programme means we are aiming to achieve this by 2028.”
