A little funding helps Pinder Court to bloom

Pinder Court

We recently provided funding of £240 for the purchase and installation of two water butts and a garden hose for customers at Pinder Court in Tavistock to use to give their courtyard a makeover and grow their own beautiful flowers and vegetables.

Alison Knight, LiveWest Community Connector said: ‘’There have always a few committed gardeners at Pinder Court but since the Coronavirus lockdown we have seen gardening at this scheme flourish, and I wanted to make this even easier for them. I was delighted to provide funding for the setup of two water butts and a communal hose. This has made it cheaper and easier to water plants. The water butts are also great from an environmental perspective as we are now using collected rainwater to water the flowers and vegetables.

“I'd also like to say thank you my fellow LiveWest colleagues for their support with this project. Particularly our Estate Supervisor, Andrew Scott and the Scheme Manager - Neighbourhoods, Wendy McLean.''

Molly Bowhay, LiveWest customer said: ''I got involved in planting at Pinder Court as a few of my neighbours liked to garden, but I noticed they were struggling to maintain the plants as they were getting older, that is when I took over. I had some ideas about it what to do and we now have plants here that need minimal maintenance but are nice to look at.

‘’I was using a watering can to water the plants before, but I found it was often too heavy for me to carry.

‘’Our Community Connector, Alison has been brilliant though and arranged for us to have water butts and a watering hose fitted. The new hose is great! LiveWest have gone out of their way to help us and these new additions to the courtyard have been a real godsend.''

Well done to everyone involved!
