LiveWest has received the first phase of 40 new affordable homes in Newcourt, Exeter, delivered in partnership with Persimmon Homes South West through its Westbury Partnerships brand.
Half of the homes have now been completed and handed over, with the remaining properties due for delivery later this summer.
The milestone was marked on site alongside local City Councillor James Cookson, celebrating progress on the development, which will provide a mix of 22 social rent and 18 shared ownership homes for local people.
Marking the handover, Gareth Jones, our Development Director, said: “We are pleased to be working with Persimmon Homes at Newcourt to bring a further phase of much-needed affordable homes to the city and to a well-established neighbourhood.
“The new homes will include social rent and shared ownership and make a real difference to people’s lives. These new properties provide good quality, secure and energy-efficient properties and a place to call home for those in need of a home to rent or buy in Exeter.”

The scheme includes areas of public open space and biodiversity enhancements to support wildlife, with existing high-quality trees including a significant oak carefully retained as part of the wider landscape.
LiveWest is planning to provide around 5,000 affordable homes over the next five years across the South West.
As part of the planning process, Persimmon collaborated closely with the local Newcourt Community Association and committed to undertake road works to widen the bend on Omaha Drive adjoining River Plate Road.
Persimmon Homes South West Land and Planning Director, Rob Clark, said: “We are really pleased with the progress made at this scheme in Newcourt, making the most of the land here to ensure local people have the secure home they need in a great part of the city.
“These 40 properties help address the local housing waiting list and providing a cost-effective way to get on the housing ladder for young people – something of which we can be very proud.”
Cllr James Cookson, Exeter City Councillor for Topsham ward, added: “I really welcome the collaboration between Persimmon and LiveWest to provide affordable housing in my ward which I know will be greatly appreciated by the new residents.
“Building homes for local people and creating jobs for local people are key parts of the Council’s agenda for Exeter so I am pleased to see this scheme near completion.”
