We are pleased to share with you exciting news about the Library. SPAN, Bristol University and the artist Carrie Reichardt, have come together and want to install an original tiled Mosaic on the library building, but before we can go ahead, we need to know if you are in favour of this. We would like you to vote either Yes or No. There are lots of ways to vote and they are detailed below.
Before you vote we would like to give you a bit of background information of SPAN and the why our Library wall has been chosen.
Who are SPAN? SPAN was formed in the 1990s by a group of women from Easton who wanted to support each other and make life better for single parents. The project came to an end in 2016 although its parenting support services continue to be offered via Wellspring Settlement.
What is proposed? SPAN, (Single Parent Action Network) Bristol University and the artist, Carrie Reichardt, have come together and want to install a beautiful tiled Mosaic on the library building to signify the amazing work of SPAN. LiveWest are in support of this idea and would like to ask you if you are too. We are also excited because the BBC are interested in making a small documentary about the artwork.
Why J3? Junction 3 is a centre for learning in the same community where SPAN was formed and where its former members and their children still live. SPAN was based in Easton and Lawrence Hill.
