Children at Comeytrowe Under Fives Preschool have received new construction toys to help them explore and role play, thanks to our donations alongside Bovis Homes and Linden Homes.

As we pride ourselves on increasing affordable living in the South West, as the largest housing association in the region, we have doubled the number of affordable homes originally planned at the new development.

Local to the preschool, we will deliver 291 homes for rental and shared ownership at Orchard Grove.

The 2,000 homes will feature within two neighbourhoods as well as a business park, primary school, local centre, park, bus services, allotments, play areas and sports pitches.

Clare Biddlecombe, our Sales Manager, said: “We are proud to be working with the local community in Comeytrowe and it was fantastic to see the children playing so enthusiastically with their new construction toys.

“It is really important to us that we help support the children in our neighbourhoods and encourage them to learn, explore and get involved in nature.

“This is part of the reason why we decided with our partners, Bovis Homes and Linden Homes, to give these resources to the local pre-school. This will not only help the development of children's gross motor skills but their social skills too.”

Through Creating Greener Futures Together, we have incorporated green open space, trees, plants, bushes and allotments into our developments to help local wildlife and help encourage our future residents to be involved in nature.

With lots of open green space for children to run around and play at Orchard Grove, Clare added: “Orchard Grove will also include allotments, play areas and sports pitches which we hope the community and local families will enjoy using throughout the year.”

Orchard Grove is one of our new open space developments in Comeytrowe in partnership with Vistry Group, which will be the place of 2,000 homes in Taunton, Somerset.

Lizzie Merrett, our Sales Consultant at Orchard Grove, said: “We are delighted to donate the play equipment and I hope it will inspire a few children to become builders!

“When we visited the preschool, it was wonderful to see them dressed up in the hi-visibility vests and hard hats, absorbed in their role playing. They were riding the dump truck and excavator, pretending to be builders and were very hard at work!”

Emma Willmont, Comeytrowe Under Fives Preschool’s manager, said: “Comeytrowe Under Fives Preschool has been lucky enough to receive a very kind donation of trucks, diggers and other construction toys, which the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring. These resources have been a huge support to the children's physical learning, where they can continue to develop their movement, riding and gross motor skills.”

“Along with it being a great asset to their physical learning, it will also enhance the children's confidence and imagination in our role play area. A massive thank you from us all.”
