Our new video showcases our ambitious retrofitting strategy

LiveWest Green Funding Manager, Tim Wotton, discusses how we are making our homes more energy efficient.

At LiveWest, we are committed to improving the energy performance of our existing and new homes.

Our retrofitting strategy supports our commitment to ensuring our homes meet a minimum EPC rating of ‘C’ by 2028 – two years ahead of the Government’s target.

The Cby28 programme will see us invest approximately £40m into our existing homes, increasing their energy efficiency and improving living costs for our customers.

In our new video, Green Funding Manager, Tim Wotton, describes our ongoing retrofitting project to future-proof our homes, upgrading the insulation and installing solar panels and new heating systems.

Our ambitious retrofitting project will deliver warm, energy efficient homes, helping to tackle fuel poverty. The project will support green jobs, whilst reducing the carbon emissions of our customers.

As Tim discusses in the video, the project also looks at improving the sustainability of our communities, providing skills training and employment opportunities, whilst improving transport infrastructure, to increase access to work in our communities.

What is retrofitting?

Retrofitting, specifically green retrofitting, is an important sustainability practice in the housing industry. Retrofitting can be defined as the development of a building by adding things which were not a part of the original structure.

Green retrofitting, specifically, refers to instances where developments are made which improve the environmental impact of the building, perhaps by reducing energy consumption and net carbon emissions. An example of a green retrofit might be updating the lighting in a building to bulbs which consume less energy or even the installation on a green roof (a roof covered in vegetation).
