Jamie’s apprenticeship gives him the support to succeed

His apprenticeship in building maintenance is giving him the hands on experience he wanted.

We sat down with Jamie Burke, Apprentice Building Maintenance Operative to find out what inspired him to apply.

Jamie said: “I have family who already work here and I knew that I wanted to join the organisation. My brother has done his apprenticeship as an electrician and I have seen him grow. My uncle also works here, so I was aware of the benefits and support you get from everyone - both inside and outside of work. It helps your life in several ways that you can’t really explain.

“When I first thought about going for an apprenticeship, I didn’t really have many options in my mind. However, by speaking to a few people at LiveWest, they supported me and gave me good feedback about how everything works.

“I want to gain as many skills as I can, get qualified and make lots of progress in my career.

“If I have any queries or problems when I am out on site, I can call my supervisor, Karl, who  is amazing at giving me support when I need it.

“I would recommend doing an apprenticeship. Go for it! There is nothing you are going to miss out on, and at the end of the day you are going to be sorted for life. It is a good organisation -  amazing really - and I thoroughly enjoy it.”
