We joined up with the National Housing Federation to celebrate Starts at Home Day

We are proud of our supported housing services and support more than 1,800 customers across the South West.
Starts at Home Day

It was fantastic to welcome the National Housing Federation (NHF) to our Bristol Foyer as part of our celebrations to mark Starts at Home Day.

James Reseigh, our Director of Neighbourhoods, and some of our supported housing colleagues showed NHF Executive Director Member Services, Simon Nunn, around our foyer to demonstrate the positive impact of supported housing.

Starts at Home Day is a national campaign organised by the NHF to shine a spotlight on the vital difference that supported housing makes to thousands of people on a daily basis.

We support almost 1,800 customers at any one time in our supported housing services - providing services to younger people and older people, people with learning disabilities, adults and families, and services provided by other organisations in our properties.

We have a network of foyers across the South West, which support almost young people between the ages of 16 and 25 experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.

James Reseigh said: “We are proud of all of the care and support services we provide for our customers, and it was fantastic to show Simon Nunn around our newly refurbished Bristol Foyer.

“We make sure that the support we deliver not only meets our customers’ needs but empowers them to have full choice and control, while we work together to achieve positive outcomes.

“It’s so important that as an organisation we support Starts at Home Day, to celebrate supported housing and to raise awareness that good quality supported housing is needed now more than ever.

“The purpose of our supported housing schemes is to help people to live as independently as possible within the community. Everyone deserves a safe, secure home that meets their needs.

“Starts at Home is an important campaign as it gives us the opportunity to join the collective voice of housing associations across the UK, shining a spotlight on our service, and celebrating the work of our brilliant teams.”

Simon Nunn said: “Starts at Home is a day of celebration, to shine a light on all the brilliant work housing associations do to provide crucial care and support to residents, help people to live independent and happy lives and to build thriving communities.

“It was fantastic to pay a visit to Bristol Foyer, which is run by LiveWest, to see the work being done by the brilliant staff who go above and beyond to help its residents.

“It was great to see the positive impact that secure housing has on people’s lives and how these young people are learning independent living skills which will enable them to prosper in the future.”
