Shona Stone, Community Connector, Somerset

Shona Stone
Somerset

Shona has been working within Community Investment since 2011. Shona is experienced in creating and developing partnerships which benefit communities. She enjoys working on a variety of projects which require different skills and approaches to reach great outcomes for LiveWest customers and communities.

Shona ran a project offering free English lessons to customers whose first language was not English. Customers learned how to communicate in different situations to do things like make a medical appointment, order at a café or use a library. The customers gained confidence and engaged with people from other cultures and backgrounds which also helped them feel more integrated with their local community. One participant gained enough confidence from the sessions to set up her own cleaning business.
